China’s regional GDP data shows uneven growth and raises questions about credibility of the numbers

he weighted-average GDP growth for 30 Chinese provinces and administrative regions was 7.3 percent for the first half of 2016, compared to the national figure of 6.7 percent. “Local officials have incentives to inflate their figures,” said one analyst.
