resident Xi Jinping was in Hangzhou between 2002 and 2007, when he held the Communist Party's top position in Zhejiang Province. The city is one of China's top tourist destinations and a model for the type of high-tech industry and "innovative growth" that Xi and other Chinese leaders champion.
