‘China’s southernmost school’ opens on contested South China Sea island with a class of 29 new students
The island that is home to the school is part of a chain that is also claimed by Vietnam, but China has moved around 1,400 soldiers, staff and their families there as part of its broader effort to assert sovereignty over the disputed region.
