Some Beijing preschools require kids to use chopsticks starting at age 4
As China's global presence becomes more pronounced, formal and informal efforts to promote its culture have appeared to be getting more attention, and the Chinese government ran an ad in 2014 that promoted the use of chopsticks. But for kids going hungry because they're struggling to use the utensils, parents may wish to put their health before cultural heritage, said one childcare expert.
