Google Maps on its Chinese domain displays the controversial nine-dash line marking China’s preferred definition of territorial claims in the South China Sea
The nine-dash line defines a large part of the South China Sea as Chinese territory and was recently rejected by an international court. It appeared on the maps.google.cn version of the region but not on maps.google.com, an approach that reflects the company's decision to abide by local law when handling local instead of global Internet domains.
