The memory of China’s communist past brings Chinese ‘red’ tourism to historically significant spots in France and Russia

Red tourism" has traditionally meant revisiting the footsteps of Mao Zedong and other leaders throughout China, but since 2011 has expanded to historical sites outside of Moscow and Paris. The typical "red" tourist is a Chinese senior citizen who remembers a different time in Sino-Soviet relations or older Chinese with children in tow.
