After massive and costly floods in China, the government will provide $60 billion per year to transform select urban areas into ‘sponge cities’
The unprecedented project will build on low-impact, water-sensitive designs used in the U.S. and elsewhere to tackles flooding and reduce water shortages in 16 pilot cities before rolling out the initiatives nationwide.
