China’s hunger for resources drives its exploration of the deep sea, deep space and deep underground
The country's five-year plan for securing more land and resources will involve using satellites to gather facts about the ground and what's beneath it, as well as exploring Mars and the Moon. To handle crowded cities, authorities are considering expanding urban areas underground. By 2020, the nation intends to create a craft that can dive 36,000 feet below the ocean's surface.
