New education rules for the largely Muslim region of Xinjiang prohibit parents from encouraging children to engage in religious activities
Minors are not supposed to participate in religious activities in China, and new education regulations for the Xinjiang region that take effect on Nov. 1 explicitly state that parents and guardians may not "organize, lure or force minors into attending religious activities."
