China flexes muscles in a military parade
Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over a military parade on Sunday to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The parade comprised 12,000 troops and showed off the country’s latest military equipment, including devices used by China’s “electronic countermeasures unit,” tanks, planes, and ballistic missiles.
The parade took place at a dusty training base in Inner Mongolia, 270 miles northwest of Beijing.
About 40 percent of the military hardware displayed had never previously been shown to the public.
