The BBC reports that Chinese authorities have shut down a private institute in Liaoning Province after videos of it teaching extremely sexist values were exposed online. In a video clip posted by Pear Video last week, a female instructor urged her female students to be unconditionally obedient to their husbands and to not pursue a career, because they are destined to “stay at the bottom level.” Following an upswell of online outrage provoked by the viral video, Chinese authorities announced on December 4 that they had forced the controversial school to close because it had violated “socialist core values.”
