Would you want a ‘resting hub’ at your local mall?

Shoppers at the Global Harbor Mall in downtown Shanghai went out in the past few days to find these two booths labeled “husband resting hubs.”

The initial idea is to provide a resting area for husbands who are tired while shopping with their wives.

The small hub, surrounded by glass walls, is equipped with video game equipment.

What do citizens think of this “husband resting hub?”

“I just played Iron Fist 3 and felt like I went back to my high school times,” Mr. Yang said. “I believe it’s great! People can rest and entertain themselves for a little bit at a time.”

“This idea is great because you won’t disturb others while self-entertaining,” Mr. Wu said.

But there were also downsides…

“I was so sweltering after playing the video games for just five minutes!” another resident commented. “When the game control is not as agile as it should be, the experience is not great.”

“I think the contained room should have ventilation and air-conditioning. I like the idea, but in the summer, without the AC, I’d rather go shopping with my wife,” he said.

What do you think? Would you also want a “resting hub” at your local mall?
