Feb. 14 Sinica live recording: Jianying Zha on democracy activism in China

DEALING WITH THE TROUBLEMAKERS: Jianying Zha on the nuances of cultural and political criticism in contemporary China through the lens of her brother, a democracy activist

Join Jeremy Goldkorn and Kaiser Kuo for a special live Sinica Podcast as they talk to Jianying Zha, author of China Pop and Tide Players, about activism in the current Chinese political climate — specifically through the lens of her brother, a democracy activist who has been jailed and seen firsthand how the state suppresses those accused of “subversion.”

Zha recently wrote about her brother for the New Yorker in a story we highly recommend: China’s bizarre program to keep activists in check.
